Noha Hashem of Areej Aromatherapy and ACHS Certificate in Aromatherapy Graduate
“Our lifestyle is stressful, full of ups and downs, challenges and problems to be solved. Using essential oils can help humans to relax and may help to make our lives better, so why not?,” asks Noha Hashem, graduate of the ACHS Certificate in Aromatherapy and owner of Areej Aromatherapy.
“To be honest,” Noha continues, “six years ago I had no idea about the word aromatherapy, until I started to search the net, then I found out the amazing benefits of essential oils on the mind, like for example, lavender can help you relax and sleep or basil oil can help in concentration. […] This new knowledge inspired [me] to start learning more about aromatherapy. Through research I found out that the ACHS college in Oregon, USA, is the right place to learn about aromatherapy, so I joined it and it open to me a whole new world that I didn’t know about. At this point the vision was quite clear that we want eventually to have an aromatherapy finished product line for the direct consumer to benefit from these amazing natural oils.”
Areej Aromatherapy, based in the Egyptian delta, is part of the Hashem Brothers family partnership, which specializes in the production of essential oils and aromatic products. Areej Aromatherapy uses naturally-derived and certified organic plant ingredients in their aromatherapy products. “Traceability and quality,” the company’s website says, “are the pillars of our business, which allow us to introduce the cosmetic market to Egyptian aromatherapy products from the source.”
Noha adds, “This is a very exciting field! Being involved in the process of getting a natural raw material to be part of a finished product, a fine perfume. Working closely with the best perfumers around the world, trying to understand and satisfy their challenging needs, [working] with them as a team to get the best result. In our company, we believe that teamwork, passion, having a clear vision and continuous research and development are the main reason for our success.” The Hashem Brothers are also active members in the Global Compact Movement and were recognized and published on the official United Nations Global Compact website under notable reports.
When asked what she most enjoys about aromatherapy and the aromatherapy business, Noha says it is the idea of reintroducing aromatherapy in Egypt 4,000 years later and using authentic Egyptian ingredients to do it. She was attracted to the American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) Certificate in Aromatherapy, because “important clients in the U.S. recommended ACHS,” she says.
Studying aromatherapy and essential oils, Noha says, “helped me tremendously. This was the first and most important step toward realizing our product line, Areej. […] It opened a whole new world of knowledge, ideas, and inspirations. I got to meet students and professors online, sharing knowledge, how to describe smells, how to make the right blends. Studying each essential oil in detail, its benefits, usages … I think I was blessed by taking this step and putting my toes in the right place from the beginning.”
