I initially sought out ACHS because I was interested in essential oils and aromatherapy. Once I took my first herbal course, I decided I would not only get my MS CAM here at ACHS, but also to pursue my Masters degree in nursing to become a primary care provider as an FNP and integrate my CAM knowledge and skills into my practice.
What are three things you would tell prospective students?
I’m taking a slogan from Nike, but JUST DO IT! Whatever brought you to check out ACHS happened for a reason. Take that next step and apply!
Online learning is great for those who are self-motivated and who have busy lives as you can do your learning in your own time, on your own schedule, and in your own way. Obviously, there are deadlines you must meet, but having the flexibility of online learning is wonderful.
If you ever have any questions or doubts, just ask. From the faculty to current students to graduates, everyone will tell you their experience honestly and from the heart.
What are your three best tips for current ACHS students?
Stay on top of your education by doing a little every day. I dedicate at least two hours daily for only my school (I choose to do it six days a week, but someone can decide to do four hours a day twice a week if that fits their schedule better).
Ask lots of questions. If you are uncertain about something or just need clarification, every single person at ACHS will do what they can to help you succeed—all you have to do is ask!
Don’t wait—just do it. Whether it’s signing up for your first class or finishing a homework assignment, procrastination is a time killer. We are not guaranteed tomorrow, so learn as much as you can today and ENJOY every moment of it!
