Portland, Oregon—November 29, 2012—American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) graduate Jane Thomas has been selected as the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) 2013 Famous Alumni. DETC Famous Alumni honorees are selected for their academic record and the level and quality of their contribution to society and their chosen profession(s). The DETC conducts the “Famous Alumni” program annually. Award winners are featured in DETC printed publication as well as on their website (www.detc.org).

“Jane achieved a high level of academic success at ACHS and seeks innovative ways to share her holistic health education with her extended rural community. As a result, her health food store, JB’s Healthmart, has earned the 2012 Rising Star of Entrepreneurship Award, and she was recognized by the Missouri House of Representatives for investing in her local economy,” says ACHS President Dorene Petersen. “Her forward-thinking products and services coupled with her innovative ways of doing business earned her this prestigious award. We are so proud of her,” adds Petersen.

Thomas is a 2012 graduate of the ACHS Associate of Applied Science in Complementary Alternative Medicine (AAS), Diploma in Herbal Studies (MH), and Certificates in: Wellness Coaching (CWC), Natural Products Manufacturing (CNPM), Homeopathy Consulting (CHC), and Herbal Retail Management (CHRM).  

“Distance education allowed me to combine my passion for holistic wellness with my desire to earn an accredited degree. This decision has enriched my life by building a global peer network of friends.
