Natalie DeWitt, BS, MS, PHD

Natalie DeWitt-2-opt

Dean of Students

Natalie joined the ACHS team in December 2019 to continue her calling as a mentor and advisor to students who want to know, be, and do more. After completing a BS in Secondary Health Education and an MS in School and College Health Program Planning, Natalie earned her Ph.D. in Health Behavior with an emphasis in the anthropology of food, all from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Her dissertation research focused on the ways in which couples adapt to living together through food work.

She has enjoyed working in higher education for the past 15 years as a student, mentor, teaching assistant, instructor, professor, and program director, both in traditional learning environments and innovative online classrooms. She specializes in health behavior, public health, community health education, healthcare administration, and organizational behavior and leadership.

Natalie was born and raised in northern Indiana but fell in love with the Pacific Northwest when she visited Washington state during her sophomore year of college, which was also her first time flying on a plane. She enjoys cooking, baking, cross-stitching, and identifying the plants and birds of Oregon. She draws inspiration from the kindness and courage of Fred Rogers, the graciousness of Dolly Parton, and the dedication to learning that beams from the heart of LeVar Burton. Natalie is a life-long learner and is looking forward to learning from and with the students, staff, and faculty at ACHS.
