Beyond the Cap: Conversations in CAM – A one-day wellness workshop featuring health and wellness experts on topics including aromatherapy for wellness, synergy in essential oil blending, history and uses for essential oil CO2 extracts, medicinal plants of South Dakota, and herbal safety and dosage guidelines. Presenters include ACHS Founding President Dorene Petersen, Aromatherapy Program Chair Amanda Lattin, Herbal Medicine Program Chair Scott Stuart, ACHS graduate Sarah Wells, and ACHS Famous Alumni and AIA President Inga Wieser. Workshop offered at ACHS Campus in Portland, Oregon (limited to 30 participants) and via Live Stream.

While herbal medicine and other CAM methods continue to gain popularity and use, so, too, does the commerce of medicinal herbs, plants, and remedies across the globe. This presentation with ACHS graduate Sarah Wells will highlight seven herbs from South Dakota not only for their traditional and contemporary uses but also because they have been studied in modern scientific research: Monarda fistulosa, Hierochloe odorata, Juniperus virginiana, Rhus glabra, Urtica dioica, Asclepias syriaca, and Equisetum arvense.

You'll learn about aromatic CO2 extracts including the methods of production, history, and how to incorporate CO2 extracts in your practice.

Synergy in Essential Oil Blending – 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. PDT
Presenter: Dorene Petersen, ACHS Founding President
Learn how to use synergy in essential oil blending with ACHS Founding President Dorene Petersen. There's more to essential oils than their individual constituents. Discover how the sum of their parts contributes to therapeutic blending to create synergy when blending.
