Dr. Holdren is ACHS' new general education program chair

Portland, Ore.—January 9, 2020—American College of Healthcare Sciences’ (ACHS) president and founder, Dorene Petersen, welcomes Lori Holdren, BS, MA, Ph.D. as the college’s new general education program chair.

ACHS offers a wide range of general education including mathematics, English, sociology, general sciences such as chemistry and biology, and other humanities. As general education program chair, Holdren will continue to teach undergraduate courses in math. She will also work with the college’s Center for Excellence in Teaching, Technology, and Assessment (CETTA) to conduct general education program reviews, research collaborations with industry credentialing organizations, and develop new course offerings.

ACHS President Dorene Petersen shared, “ACHS is thrilled to announce the appointment of Professor Dr. Lori Holdren as the ACHS General Education Program Chair. Dr. Holdren specializes in mathematics and has a gift for using technology and practical application to make math approachable for our students. She brings innovative and high-impact practices to the general education department, and we are excited to have her expertise overseeing general education studies at ACHS in collaboration with our wonderful faculty.”

Holdren has a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics from Stockton University (formerly Stockton State College), a Master of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Arizona, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction in Mathematics Education from the University of South Florida. Holdren has also attended and presented at local and national mathematics education conferences and reviewed textbooks for various publishers. Learning about current trends in teaching mathematics and implementing them in her classroom has always played an important role in her teaching.
