Overview

The Diploma in Holistic Health Practice is a professional training program for people seeking to earn a comprehensive and recognized credential to establish a holistic health practice or to add to an existing health care practice.

Required Sequence

Admissions and student services advisors work with students to provide them with an academic plan prior to enrollment. This guided pathway is developed by ACHS faculty, subject matter experts, and academic advisors and is designed to promote student success. Some students may be asked to take courses in a particular order following assessment of their previous education and experience, even if there is not a specific prerequisite for a course.​

Highlights

Meets the curriculum requirements of the Alliance of International Aromatherapists’ Advanced Practitioner Aromatherapy education standards for students selecting the Aromatherapy specialization electives (AROMA 203, AROMA 303, AROMA 304)

Meets the education requirements for graduates to sit the Board Certification in Holistic Nutrition exam offered by the Holistic Nutrition Credentialing Board [2]

[2] Please note: In addition to completing this program, documentation of 500 hours (includes a minimum of 250 direct contact hours and up to 250 indirect contact hours) of professional experience in holistic nutrition is also required. NANP also offers an exception for new graduates that defers these requirements for two years if the exam is taken within 12 months of graduation. Learning Outcomes

  • Explain human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology in the professional practice of holistic health.
  • Interpret current research, including theories, practices, and ethical and cultural considerations to promote holistic health.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to develop trust and confidence during client consultation sessions.
  • Develop the components of a wellness business to effectively implement record keeping, insurance, scope of practice, ethics, legal considerations, marketing, networking, and state and federal regulations.
  • Apply informed consent, intake skills, scope of practice, assessment skills, and wellness protocols in the design of evidence-based wellness plans.
  • Identify opportunities for community agencies to promote health and wellness.

Electives: To complete this program, students may select a specialization track or nine credits of elective study. Students may choose from all undergraduate courses; prerequisites must be met where applicable.
