Dr. Glen Nagel is ACHS' New Herbal Medicine Program Chair

Portland, Ore.—December 29, 2020—American College of Healthcare Sciences’ (ACHS) President and Founder, Dorene Petersen, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Glen Nagel, ND, as the college’s new Herbal Medicine Program Chair.

As Chair, Nagel will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in herbal medicine. He will also work with the college’s Center for Excellence in Teaching, Technology, and Assessment (CETTA) to conduct integrative health and wellness program reviews, research collaborations with industry credentialing organizations, and develop new course offerings.

ACHS President Dorene Petersen shared, “ACHS is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Glen Nagel as the ACHS Herbal Medicine Program Chair. Dr. Nagel brings years of expertise as both an herbal educator and as a product formulator in the herbal industry. His passion, knowledge, and enthusiasm will be a valuable addition to the ACHS community and we are excited to have his leadership in the Herbal Medicine department.”

Nagel is a graduate of the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) and has worked in the herbal industry as a product formulator and as an herbal educator, offering herbal medicine courses to naturopaths and the general public.

“I am excited about returning to the world of herbal education. The faculty and staff at ACHS have such an excellent reputation that it is a pleasure to be part of the ACHS team. I am excited to serve the students as they grow on their herbal journey,” Nagel says.

Nagel is a former associate professor in botanical medicine at NUNM in Portland, Oregon, and was also an assistant professor of botanical medicine at Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington. His training as an herbalist began in the early 1980s as one of the first herbal apprentices with the founders of Herb Pharm. He also studied with seaweed expert Ryan Drum, Ph. D and herbalist Cascade Anderson Geller and has worked for many top herbal companies, including Wise Woman Herbals, Herb Pharm, and Eclectic Institute.
