Kalanikehaohaleiwa Aila Cox received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Portland. Following graduation, he worked in academic research at the Casey Eye Institute (Oregon Health and Sciences University), where his research focused on Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma. He eventually transitioned to point-of-care diagnostic development for allergens, maternal health, and COVID-19. These opportunities afforded him experience in GMP, Quality Control/Assurance, and Technology Transfer.
In his personal time, Kalani enjoys playing volleyball, exploring new restaurants and food carts in Portland, and traveling abroad. He is excited to develop new skills at ACHS and is eager to play an active role in enhancing the student experience.
