Industry Memberships and Recognition

ACHS is continually working to expand and improve educational standards and industry support for our Students and Graduates by maintaining and fostering strong ties to the natural health community. Don’t forget to also review information on our accreditation and other approvals.

 

Alliance of International Aromatherapists (AIA):

ACHS is a Recognized School of the Alliance of International Aromatherapists (AIA), providing accredited, online Advanced Practitioner Level (minimum 400 Hours) and Professional Level (Minimum 200 Hours) aromatherapy programs that meet and exceed rigorous curriculum and practice standards for aromatherapy training.

 

American Botanical Council (ABC):

ACHS is proud to be a sponsor of ABC, a leading independent, international, member-based nonprofit organization providing education using science-based and traditional information to promote the responsible use of herbal medicine. Sponsorship allows ACHS to support the Herbal community while keeping up-to-date on the latest research, trends and information on herbs and medicinal plants.

 

American Herbalists Guild (AHG):

Master Herbalist graduates are eligible for professional membership once they have met the AHG clinical requirement, available through the AHG mentorship program.

 

American Herbal Pharmacopoeia (AHP):

As an institutional member, ACHS provides students in select herbal courses access to the AHP critically reviewed monographs including information on quality control criteria and a review of literature on the efficacy and safety of herbal medicine.

 

American Holistic Health Association:

ACHS is an Institutional Member of AHHA.

 

Aromatherapy Registration Council (ARC):

Graduates of the Certificate in Aromatherapy, Diploma in Aromatherapy, Associate of Applied Science in Complementary Alternative Medicine with Aromatherapy Specialization, and the Master of Science in Aromatherapy will have completed more than 200 hours of clinical aromatherapy training and are eligible to sit for the National Examination in Aromatherapy sponsored by ARC to become Registered Aromatherapists. Successful exam candidates earn the trademarked designation R.A.

 

Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP):

Certificate in Aromatherapy and Diploma in Aromatherapy students are approved for student liability insurance; Certificate in Aromatherapy and Diploma in Aromatherapy graduates are approved for practitioner liability insurance. Students and Graduates must apply.

Clinical Nutrition Certification Board (CNCB)

ACHS graduates of the following programs meet the core education requirements for the Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN) exam through the Clinical Nutrition Certification Board (CNCB). Visit www.cncb.org for eligibility requirements.


Graduates of the following programs meet the core education requirements to enter the CNCB’s PostGraduate Studies in Clinical Nutrition (PGSCN) online program in order to qualify to sit for the CCN exam: 

 

International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades:

ACHS is an approved member of IFEAT, further evidencing our dedication to supporting sustainability and fair trade of essential oils and to providing comprehensive resources with the latest aromatherapy research for ACHS’s professional aromatherapy programs.

 

International Iridology Practitioners Association:

ACHS anatomy and physiology training is approved for iridology certification.

 

National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA): 

ACHS offers NAHA-Approved Level Three – Professional Aromatherapy Certification programs. Learn more about the NAHA standards ACHS program meet online here.

Level Three Professional Aromatherapy Certification programs:

The undergraduate Certificate in Aromatherapy and Graduate Certificate in Aromatherapy programs also meet the aromatherapy education requirements for NAHA Level 3 for existing health professionals such as Massage Therapists, Herbalists, Nurses, Physicians, etc per the NAHA requirements. Graduates that are not existing health professionals are also required to complete qualifying anatomy and physiology. At ACHS, students would complete the following undergraduate courses to study all NAHA required body systems NAT 210 Anatomy & Physiology I, NAT 211 Anatomy & Physiology II, and NAT 212 Anatomy & Physiology III or the following graduate-level courses for qualified applicants NAT 501 Anatomy & Physiology I and NAT 502 Anatomy & Physiology II.

 

National Association of Nutrition Professionals:

The HNCB is a division of the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP). NANP Professional Members who meet the board examination qualification criteria and successfully pass the Board Exam will earn the designation, “Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition,” and can call themselves a Nutrition Professional. Graduates of select nutrition-focused programs are eligible to sit the exam. In addition, graduates who have achieved the following are eligible to use the title “Certified Nutrition Professional” or CNP:

  • Successfully passed the HNCB Board Certification in Holistic Nutrition exam
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in nutrition or a nutrition-related field of study from an NANP approved holistic nutrition program OR a college or university regionally or nationally accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Have completed 1,200 hours of supervised practice within three years of graduation

As an NANP approved institution, and a School Sponsor, all courses offered by ACHS, count as Category I continuing education credits for the 10 required hours of continuing education required each year for NANP Nutrition Professionals. For new ACHS students, the student NANP membership is included for one year. For proof of enrollment, they can provide a screenshot of their registration detail in the ACHS portal at portal.achs.edu. Reach out to your Student Advisor for more information.

For students who are renewing their NANP membership, they can use a code to access our discounted rate of $35. The code is available in the Canvas Student Center.

 

Natural Products Association (NPA):

ACHS is a member of this trade association which represents the natural products industry. NPA promotes the growth and success of the industry through the establishment of industry standards and ethical business practices.

 

Oregon Business:

ACHS is a member of this trade association which represents the natural products industry. Oregon Business Magazine ranked ACHS as #6 on the 2016 list of the 100 Best Green Companies to Work For in Oregon.

 

PETA:

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world. PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, and protest campaigns.

 

United Plant Savers:

ACHS is a member of the Partners in Education Network. Students and graduates are eligible for membership.
