Every year, Mother’s Day takes me by surprise. I get so hyped up for spring and summer, I forget…I need a special gift for the incredible woman who made this wonderful life possible. Mom!

This recipe is quick and easy to make, and you can grab the primary ingredients in one trip to your local natural health food store or the Apothecary Shoppe. With white cane sugar, coconut oil, and gentle essential oils, this sugar scrub is mild enough to use on the face and body (if you’re a highly sensitive person, check with your doctor or esthetician before using on your face). DIY sugar scrub ingredients

“I’m a Cool Mom!” Sugar Scrub Recipe

Ingredients

White cane sugar 1/2 cup

Coconut oil 1/2 cup

Grape seed oil 1/4 cup

Ground almonds 2 tablespoons

Organic honey 1 teaspoon

White clay powder 1 teaspoon

Lavender Lavandula angustifolia 4 drops

Geranium Pelargonium graveolens 2 drops

Peppermint Mentha ×piperita 1 drop

How to Make

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl until the mixture is moist and makes a paste. Use a whisk to help blend and smooth. Jar and store at room temperature away from direct sunlight.

How to Use

Gently rub onto wet skin—arms, legs, torso, etc.—for a rich, luxurious body scrub. Rinse thoroughly. For the face, use a small amount and gently rub onto neck and face. Rinse thoroughly. If you’re a highly sensitive person, rub a small amount on your arm for one minute to check for any sensitivity before using on the face and/or check with your doctor or esthetician before use.

The measurements above will give you an oily sugar scrub; so if you’re looking for a coarser scrub, add more sugar, ground almonds, and white clay. For a coarser body scrub, you can use brown sugar. For an even coarser foot scrub, try raw sugar or sea salt.

This sugar scrub isn’t just great for Mom, but it’s an easy breezy gift for office holiday parties, birthday presents, baby and wedding shower favors, and general “I love you!” occasions.
