Susan earned graduate degrees from Portland State University mid-career, while working full time. Her research area and doctoral dissertation topic centers on sustainable business applied in multiple functions and settings that draw from Susan’s professional and academic experience including retail, healthcare, manufacturing, real estate, hospitality, marketing, and finance. With over 10 years in academic administration, Susan chaired an MBA program overseeing 50 instructors and over 80 courses. She led a team in the development and launch of an MBA in Health Care Management and integrated principles of social responsibility, equity, and sustainable practices into undergraduate and MBA course learning outcomes. Susan served on the advisory board of the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners, was an Urban Community Adviser on the Executive Board of the Urban Land Institute, and currently serves on the advisory board of Right to Health, a local nonprofit committed to helping address racial inequities using a restorative and health perspective and empowering people with tools to mitigate conflict and stress. For fun, Susan loves most anything involving a team: running Hood To Coast, dragon boat paddling, and even attempting to make something resembling music.
