Substantive Interaction Requirements

ACHS courses are designed to provide weekly interaction between faculty and students through faculty-directed weekly discussions, assessment feedback on weekly assignments, weekly live lectures, and faculty office hours.

Students receiving federal financial aid are required to participate in substantive interaction with faculty to remain eligible for funding. Students are required to establish participation within the first 14 days of the semester to be eligible to receive federal financial aid for the semester, and Title IV funds are then disbursed for a student under the assumption that the student will participate for the entire period for which the assistance is awarded.

Students who cease participation in academically related activities prior to completing the term will be classified as receiving a “withdrawn failing,” and the course grade reflected as “W/F” unless they have completed enough coursework to receive a passing grade.

In this case, for students receiving Title IV Federal Financial Aid, a recalculation of their financial aid eligibility will be conducted based on the later of the midpoint of the payment period or the last date of participation. The last date of participation is defined as the last day the student participated in an academically related activity.[1]
