This course centers on the entrepreneurial skills that help students bridge the gap from their academic wellness specialty to the real world. Topics include entrepreneurial planning and success strategies, career pathways, professional wellness organizations, business planning and operations, entrepreneurial ethics and legalities, therapeutic communication, and marketing fundamentals. Students will develop either a lean business plan or an employment toolkit.
Apply techniques of self-reflection and success strategies to your own life
Identify applicable professional organizations and credentials for your planned career or practice
Complete a summative project, paper, or presentation that draws on current research, scholarship and techniques in your specialization and relates to your intended path after graduation, such as a business plan or career plan or industry certification
Locate, evaluate, incorporate and properly cite multiple information resources in different media in projects, papers or presentations that address state and federal legal issues, professional ethics, privacy including HIPAA, record keeping including SOAP notes, scope of practice, coaching and consulting
Construct effective messages in various formats and styles, to a variety of audiences, including social media; for example for marketing, wellness coaching, client intake questionnaires, designing client education programs, social media influencing, and communicating a client bill of rights
