Amanda is originally from Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. She studied chemistry at Huntington College in Montgomery, Alabama, where she developed an interest in botanicals and phytochemistry through her research. While completing graduate studies at Lewis and Clark College, Amanda continued exploring natural sciences and the ways people learn.
After the birth of her son, Amanda returned to her passion for natural health, studying aromatherapy and herbalism. She launched her own consulting practice, working with clients both in her own space and in other clinical settings. Amanda also began teaching chemistry, biochemistry, herbalism, and aromatherapy at various colleges and universities.
Raised in a family that embraced holistic and natural lifestyle choices, Amanda’s interest in integrative health deepened during a college internship at a chiropractor’s office. Her personal health journey further fueled this interest, as she found meaningful support through holistic health practices. She believes that education is a vital part of integrative health—helping people understand how to take an active role in supporting their own well-being.
Amanda views ACHS as a convergence of her core passions: botanicals, chemistry, education, and whole-person health empowerment. She has previously taught at institutions such as The Traditional Roots Institute at the National University of Natural Medicine. Her work includes authoring academic articles on aromatherapy theory and scientific holism, publishing professional case studies, and serving as a peer reviewer for scientific journals.
In 2007, Amanda founded her herbal and aromatherapy consulting practice, offering private client services, collaborating with clinical partners, and creating a line of aromatherapy products. Since 2021, she has served on the Board of Directors for the Alliance of International Aromatherapists.
Her areas of expertise include chemistry, phytochemistry, botanical medicine, aromatherapy, teaching, curriculum development, integrative health professional practice, research, entrepreneurship, academic writing, and leadership.
“I love seeing clients and students have “Ah Ha” moments in their health and education journeys. Aromatherapy and herbalism are incredibly interesting to me because there is always something new to learn. Nature is beautiful and complex. I find it inspiring to learn how we are connected and supported by it, and create opportunities for individuals and communities to be empowered by it. Integrative health is a crossroads for the best of nature and science to come together for these shared goals.”
