This Neuroscience and Nutrition course explores the neurological system and the role of nutrition, lifestyle, and environmental factors in neurological function and dysfunction. Studies include central and peripheral systems, parasympathetic, enteric and sympathetic nerve functions, and their role in cognition, memory, mood, and pain. Major emphasis will be on nutrition and lifestyle changes that impact neurological health and disorders.
Topics covered in this course include:
Summarize the functions of the neurological system;
Compare and contrast how nutrients affect the nervous system;
Determine and describe how nutrition and lifestyle impact learning and behavior disorders;
Illustrate how lifestyle and nutrition affect common illnesses and diseases of the neurological system;
Develop a health protocol to provide wellness support for a client with a neurological condition.
