This course will offer strong research-oriented coverage of both nutrition and exercise physiology with practical, applied information useful to students who will counsel and provide dietary and training guidelines to athletes.
Prepares students to sit the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) exam leading to the Sports Nutrition Specialist (ISSN-SNS) credential – http://www.sportsnutritionsociety.org/SNS.html*

Examine the influence of nutrition on the anatomy and physiology of exercise
Evaluate how carbohydrate, fats, proteins vitamins, and minerals function in exercise
Describe the importance of water and demonstrate effective hydration plans for exercise
Be able to develop a diet plan for a particular person engaging in a specific sport
Recognize and evaluate sports food, drinks, supplements, and ergogenic aids and discuss their appropriate use
Be able to develop a plan for nutrition and exercise for special populations
