Dori Rossi, BS, MA, LPC

ADA Coordinator

Dori is from Michigan and has dedicated her career to supporting students and individuals in need of mental health services. She earned a B.S. in Psychology from Central Michigan University and an M.A. in Counseling from Oakland University.

With over 15 years in mental health services, Dori transitioned to higher education ten years ago, focusing on advocating for students with disabilities and equitable access to education. She joined ACHS as the ADA Coordinator in June 2023, continuing her commitment to student success. Dori has always been passionate about advocating for students with disabilities and ensuring equitable access to education. With a background in mental health and higher education, she witnessed the challenges students face and wanted to make a difference. This led her to focus on accessibility and support services in higher education. Joining ACHS as the ADA Coordinator was a natural step, allowing her to combine her expertise in counseling, advocacy, and education to help create an inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.

Dori’s career was shaped by her over five years of experience working in higher education ADA services at another college prior to ACHS, where she gained valuable insight into supporting students with disabilities. She is also an active member of MI-Ahead, the Michigan chapter of AHEAD, which has further enhanced her knowledge and network in the field. Bringing over 15 years of experience in mental health services and higher education to the team, her background in counseling and psychology helps her provide strong support for students with disabilities, advocating for their academic success and well-being. She’s skilled in creating accessible environments, developing inclusive programs, and navigating ADA compliance. Dori’s passion for advocacy and her ability to connect with students, faculty, and staff help ensure students get the support they need to succeed.

She is particularly proud of her work in higher education, where she has had the opportunity to advocate for students with disabilities and create more accessible learning environments. One of her key accomplishments was leading initiatives that improved ADA compliance and support services at her previous institution. At ACHS, Dori continues to work on enhancing the accessibility of learning environments and advocating for students’ rights under the ADA.

“What excites me most about my work is the opportunity to create accessible and inclusive environments where every student, regardless of their challenges, can succeed. I’m passionate about advocating for their needs and ensuring they have the resources to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.”
