Dr. Thompson grew up in NYC and has lived in every corner of the country from the Pacific Northwest to the Arizona desert and tropical Miami, FL. Her journey into herbal medicine came after a nearly fatal car accident where her mother effectively used herbs and nutrition to help her heal. The work of various modalities of natural health got her back on her feet where she later put those therapies to use with her patients. She started working in the field as a doula doing hands on healing and kept adding to her knowledge base where she eventually became a naturopathic doctor and midwife.
Her personal journey of overcoming physical injuries brought her into the field of natural health and healing. Seeing these therapies work effectively in herself inspired a curiosity to discover how far those therapies worked. She found homeopathic and herbal remedies that worked for pregnant and nursing mothers, newborns, chronically ill and elderly people. Being a continuous witness to the healing power of natural remedies keeps her going in her pursuit of knowledge and implementation of natural practices.
Dr. Thompson experienced her own healing and was witness to thousands more healing naturally through the use of herbs, homeopathic, nutritional and physical therapies as a doula, midwife, naturopathic doctor, medical translator, on-staff doctor for Life Extension Foundation, university professor and program director, president of the Florida Naturopathic Physicians Association and Executive Director of the Naturopathic Medicine Institute.
Dr. Thompson brings expertise in clinical care, education, leadership, and advocacy in natural medicine. In her medical capacities, she developed patient care, crisis management, and refined diagnostic, treatment planning, and patient-centered care from newborns to the elderly. As a medical translator she strengthened communication and cultural competency. Her background in higher education honed her mentorship and research analysis. As a leader in policy advocacy, she advanced her organizational management skills working in collaboration with various medical associations and natural health professionals to advance holistic healthcare.
Dr. Thompson has completed three half marathons, is a published author and has been interviewed by various media outlets including the Vitamin Shoppe. She worked on the Human Health and Wellbeing Project, a collaborative research program through the University of Arizona, the American Red Cross and the NIH which investigated mitigating health behavior through communication in an HIV/ AIDS prevention education program geared towards elementary school aged children using various communication models.
“Witnessing repeated healing of what was considered impossible to heal, using natural remedies and therapies, fuels my drive to educate people new to the field. I have seen people’s lives transformed through what is often referred to as miracles.“
