What Does It Mean to Be a B Corporation?

ACHS President Tracey AbellB Corporations are businesses that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Certified by B Lab, these companies commit to using business as a force for good by prioritizing people and the planet over profit alone. At ACHS, this certification aligns perfectly with our mission to lead the advancement of evidence-based, integrative health and wellness education while embracing sustainable practices. ACHS President Tracey Abell emphasizes, “ACHS was founded on the principle that wellness is a lifestyle, a daily habit. By working together and engaging in incremental actions that collectively make a big impact, we are achieving our mission and vision of a healthy and sustainable future for all. 2024 Environmental Impact

In 2024, ACHS remained committed to reducing our environmental impact through sustainable practices. With 90% of our workforce operating remotely, we significantly cutA laptop next to ACHS textbooks and water bottle carbon emissions by eliminating the need for daily commuting. With many companies initiating a return to the office mandates, ACHS is proud to maintain its remote workforce, supporting work/life integration and reducing our environmental impact. This remote structure prevents approximately 791,874 miles of commuting annually, directly reducing our carbon footprint while also promoting work-life balance for our employees.  This commitment to sustainability extends to our Portland, Oregon campus, which operates entirely on locally sourced renewable energy, including wind, geothermal, and solar power. As a proud supporter of the PGE Save More, Matter More campaign, we continue to prioritize energy efficiency by reducing our overall utility use and eliminating natural gas usage. Additionally, our water conservation efforts remain a priority, with ongoing strategic adjustments to align with climate conditions. ACHS remains dedicated to environmental responsibility, integrating sustainable solutions into our operations for a greener tomorrow.

2024 Community Impact

ACHS strives to foster a thriving, purpose-driven community that supports our students, faculty, and the broader holistic health network. Through collaboration, student resources, and educational initiatives, we continue to make a meaningful impact. One way we do this is by offering free holistic health webinars, which make education accessible to a global audience. In 2024, these webinars engaged hundreds of participants and contributed thousands of hours to community learning, expanding knowledge, and promoting well-being. We also continued to make financial contributions to organizations that align with our mission of sustainability, education, and wellness. In 2024, ACHS supported initiatives such as the Sustainable Herb Initiative, the American Herbalists Guild, and the ACHS Foundation. We also provided aid to communities in need, including disaster relief efforts. By investing in these important causes, we reinforce our commitment to creating a healthier, more sustainable world.
