ACHS Offers Fall Continuing Education Courses for Healthcare & Wellness Professionals at its Portland, OR Campus

Portland, Or.August 23, 2023The American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) is excited to announce the ACHS Fall Continuing Education (CE) courses starting in September 2023 and offered at the ACHS Campus centrally located in Portland, OR. Tailored for licensed professionals, caregivers, and other healthcare and wellness experts, these CE courses are designed to contribute to the advancement of clinical skills and practical application of wellness modalities including aromatherapy and herbal medicine. 

 

These courses focus on specific areas of clinical practice, and practitioners will be able to directly apply what they learn in their practice. Courses also include formulas, preparations, and tangible reference materials to promote continued use and application of material covered in these innovative offerings.

 

The CE courses present an invaluable opportunity to accrue CE hours that fulfill state licensing requirements, making them ideal for Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) and Nurses. ACHS has submitted courses for approval to the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Examiners and is recognized by the California Board of Registered Nurses as Provider #CEP-12115. Many state boards accept continuing education credits under reciprocity and additional approvals may also be available. All the CE classes will be held on ACHS’s welcoming campus.

 

The array of Continuing Education courses features the expertise of two distinguished faculty members at ACHS: Dean of Aromatherapy Amanda Lattin and Dr. Glen Nagel, the Dean of Herbal Medicine.

 

Clinical Aromatherapy CE Courses with Dean Amanda Lattin:

  • Care for the Caregiver: Aromatherapy for Provider Stress Recovery
    Discover effective aromatherapy techniques to alleviate caregiver burden and provider burnout with a 2-hour CE intensive led by ACHS’s Dean of Aromatherapy, Professor Amanda Lattin. This course addresses the urgent need for stress recovery strategies, equipping providers and caregivers with non-invasive tools that can be seamlessly integrated into clinical or personal settings. Participants will even prepare their take-home aromatherapy stress recovery protocol during the session.
  • Aromatherapy for Pain Management
    Delve into the realm of pain management in clinical settings with Professor Amanda Lattin. This targeted course unpacks the latest research on aromatherapy’s efficacy and mechanisms for pain relief. Participants will grasp knowledge about the primary essential oils for pain management and master application protocols that can be readily implemented with clients. As a unique aspect, participants will construct their personalized aromatherapy pain management protocol during the session. 

Clinical Herbalism and Practice CE Courses with Dean Dr. Glen Nagel:

  • Herbal Compounding and Formulation Do’s and Don’ts (2 hours)
    Join Dr. Glen Nagel, ND, for a comprehensive workshop on crafting therapeutic herbal formulas and best practices for compounding herbal tinctures. This interactive session will cover the essential dos and don’ts when blending herbal extracts, addressing common concerns about solvent content, herbal constituents, and more. Gain confidence in your botanical knowledge and create an herbal tincture formula for holistic wellness.
  • Hands-on Practice: Creating Herbal Formulas for Clinical Cases
    Elevate your herbal formulation skills with this hands-on workshop led by Dr. Glen Nagel, ND. Participants will receive practical training in creating therapeutic herbal tincture formulas for specific clinical cases. This workshop offers a unique opportunity for supervised learning, enabling participants to apply their herbal expertise and expand their formulary repertoire.
  • Essential GMPs for Herbal Practitioners
    Enhance your understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) with this 90-minute workshop guided by Dr. Glen Nagel. Herbal practitioners will gain vital insights into implementing effective GMP frameworks, ensuring compliance, and showcasing product quality in a competitive market. The workshop highlights the significance of accurate record-keeping and industry-standard compliance, offering a pathway to elevate both product integrity and client education.
  • Herb Quality Assessment for Practitioners
    In this live, in-person class, practitioners will delve into the art of assessing the quality of herbs and herbal products. Guided by Dr. Glen Nagel, participants will learn sensory methods for determining herbal quality, along with a secondary technique involving microscopic analysis. These skills are pivotal in sourcing the highest quality and most effective herbal products. Attendees will also gain access to trusted resources for purchasing premium herbs and herbal products.
