Born and raised in the South, Dr. Hilton-Betton’s curiosity about how things work led her to chemistry and healthcare. Fascinated by the human body from a young age, she pursued a degree in chemistry to better understand molecular processes. During her studies, she recognized the strong connection between chemistry and healthcare—particularly how chemistry influences drug development and disease treatment. After completing her degree, Dr. Hilton-Betton became a Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist and later a Professor.
Her passion for health, wellness, and education led her to join the faculty at ACHS. With a solid background in healthcare and science, Dr. Hilton-Betton is committed to sharing her knowledge and experience with students who are driven to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare field. She values ACHS for providing the opportunity to work alongside individuals dedicated to advancing health and wellness.
Dr. Hilton-Betton’s career as a Professor has been shaped by roles that allowed her to combine practical experience with teaching. Early in her career, she worked in the healthcare industry in Clinical Laboratory Science and Health Information Technology, gaining firsthand experience in the medical field. This practical knowledge equips her to educate and mentor future healthcare professionals effectively.
She brings a strong foundation in healthcare and science, paired with real-world experience, allowing her to offer students valuable insights. Her expertise in curriculum development ensures that she designs courses that are both relevant and engaging, aligned with current industry needs. Additionally, her mentoring background helps her foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment. One of her personal and professional achievements is being among the roughly 2% of U.S. adults who hold a doctorate degree.
