AROMA 504 includes the study of the therapeutic uses, active constituents, methods of administration, and cautions and contraindications for each of the essential oils studied; oils are studied alphabetically.
The focus of the ACHS Aromatherapy Department is holistic aromatology. Holistic aromatology focuses on restoration of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health through the application of essential oils. We use the terms “aromatherapy” and “aromatology” interchangeably throughout the program. All healing modalities offered by ACHS focus on the holistic approach. Our philosophy is that only by taking care of the whole person—the physical, emotional, and spiritual—can health and wellness occur.
Identify, discuss, and safely use the 23 organic or wildcrafted essential oils studied, including: Botanical information, identification, sources,historical uses, parts used, cultivation, harvesting, production, characteristics, active constituents, therapeutic actions, medicinal uses, evidence-based uses, household uses, perfumery, recommended doses, cautions and contraindications, regulatory status, and formulas.
Create lifestyle plans and aromatherapy programs to support optimal health.
Identify, describe, and discuss appropriate and safe uses of a full range of administrative methods for the oils studied.
Demonstrate the ability to research and write a case study on aromatherapy.
Discuss the concepts in evaluating the validity of aromatherapy research.
Identify the components of a literature review and the process involved in locating and accessing appropriate research.
Demonstrate the ability to research and write an in-depth literature review on a specific aromatherapy hypothesis.
Build on skills acquired in Aroma 503 and continue to learn to interpret and evaluate aromatherapy research

Candidates must possess a baccalaureate degree or higher from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education. Candidates must submit official transcripts directly from the issuing institution along with one professional letter of recommendation. All applicants must be recommended for admission by the ACHS Admissions Committee.
