Overview

 

This course will offer strong research-oriented coverage of both nutrition and exercise physiology with practical, applied information useful to students who will counsel and provide dietary and training guidelines to athletes.

Learning Outcomes

  • Examine the influence of nutrition on the anatomy and physiology of exercise

  • Evaluate how carbohydrate, fats, proteins vitamins, and minerals function in exercise

  • Describe the importance of water and demonstrate effective hydration plans for exercise

  • Be able to develop a diet plan for a particular person engaging in a specific sport

  • Recognize and evaluate sports food, drinks, supplements, and ergogenic aids and discuss their appropriate use

  • Be able to develop a plan for nutrition and exercise for special populations
