FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Portland, OR—November 12, 2013—American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS), www.achs.edu, an accredited fully online holistic health education degree program college, announces the hiring of Oleg Maksimov, Ph.D. to Academic Dean. Maksimov will play a vital role in the growth of the College as he brings a wealth of experience in research, program evaluation, and distance education, says ACHS President and Founder Dorene Petersen.

“I am extremely proud to work at the American College of Healthcare Sciences and be a part of a team that strives to provide holistic health education and utilizes latest technical resources to reach students across the United States and around the world,” states Maksimov.

Dr. Maksimov worked as Adjunct Faculty and Subject Matter Expert for a number of schools, developed online courses, and taught General and Organic Chemistry, Introductory Biology, Ecology, and Environmental Science. He has also acted as a program evaluator for the American Council on Education and a proposal reviewer for the Research Foundation of City University of New York.

“During the last year of his work in the Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Maksimov became interested in the studies of memory effects in aqueous solutions diluted past Avogadro’s number of molecules—homeopathic remedies—and by the Complementary and Alternative Medicine field. At the same time he also got involved in distance education working as an Adjunct Faculty member in the online division of South University’s Health Sciences Program, which made him the perfect candidate for ACHS’s new Academic Dean,” says Petersen.

As Academic Dean, Dr. Makismov will provide strong and visionary leadership, recognizing students as whole people with many strengths and needs. Dr. Maksimov will also serve as  Chair of the Curriculum Committee with oversight of all the programs at ACHS, which includes all aspects of curriculum development, evaluation of existing programs, and development of new programs.

Maksimov was born in Moscow, Russia, and moved to the United States in 1995. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the City University of New York in 2002. He has been happily married for 17 years and has two children ages eight and four. When he has free time, he enjoys developing activities combing art and science for high school students and delivering health education classes to the community. He currently resides in Massachusetts.
