Portland, OR—September 4, 2023—American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) is thrilled to announce that Dr. Santiago Lorenzo, an esteemed faculty member, has been selected to receive the distinguished Leo Harris Athletic Alumni Award from the University of Oregon (UO), his alma mater.
The Leo Harris Athletic Alumni Award, initiated in 1967 by the late Leo Harris, former UO director of athletics, and his family, was later renamed in his honor. This prestigious award is presented to an alumni letterman in recognition of exceptional achievements and contributions spanning at least 20 years since graduation.
Dr. Santiago Lorenzo, a prominent figure at ACHS, is currently an esteemed faculty member, passionately teaching anatomy and physiology courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. His dedication and expertise have enriched the academic journey of countless students at our institution.
Beyond his exceptional contributions within the classroom, Dr. Lorenzo’s accomplishments extend far and wide. Hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, he proudly represented his country in the decathlon at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, showcasing his remarkable athleticism on the world stage.
Moreover, Dr. Lorenzo is a revered member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Olympic/Paralympic Medicine and Sports Science Committee, where he continues to make significant contributions to the field of sports medicine. Additionally, he serves as an esteemed Editorial Board of Exercise Physiology member in Frontiers in Physiology Journal, further solidifying his expertise and influence in the academic and scientific community.
Dr. Santiago Lorenzo teaches within the General Education Department offering a variety of courses including Anatomy and Physiology at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as RES 301, RES 501, NAT 210, NAT 502, and PFT 101.
