Portland, OR – September 27th – The American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) is proud to announce the addition of four esteemed faculty members who have joined our institution this fall semester. These accomplished educators bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to ACHS, enhancing our commitment to providing high-quality education in the healthcare field.
Dr. Christiaan Van Jimenez is a first-generation college graduate with a remarkable educational background. He holds a Bachelor of Science in English Education, a Master of Education in English Language Learner Instruction, and an Education Doctorate in Teacher Leader in Digital Transformation. With prior teaching experience in both the United States and South Korea, Dr. Jimenez has a unique perspective on language education. At ACHS, he will share his expertise by teaching courses in English and Philosophy.
Dr. Judith Thompson is a distinguished Naturopathic Doctor with expertise in herbs, homeopathy, nutrition, mind-body stress management, and women’s and children’s health. With an 18-year career as a doula, birth assistant, and midwife, Dr. Thompson’s passion for natural birth led her to explore regenerative medicine later in her career. She has contributed extensively to the field of natural remedies through publications and international lectures. Dr. Thompson will play a pivotal role in educating ACHS students in the realm of Naturopathic medicine.
Greg Dardis brings a wealth of experience from his thirteen-year tenure at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), where he specialized in Life Science and Earth Science Education. His expertise in developing educational programs and interactive exhibits has made a lasting impact. Subsequently, currently serving as an assistant professor at ACHS, he will be instructing classes in American History, Environmental Science, writing, and critical thinking.
Dr. Patricia Kaufman, an associate professor at ACHS, combines her teaching role with a private nutrition practice. Her focus lies in assisting individuals with chronic conditions and those seeking to enhance their athletic performance. Dr. Kaufman is a distinguished scholar, holding a Ph.D. in Human Health and Performance and being a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS®) and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) across multiple states. Her research endeavors encompass dietary adherence in adults with type 2 diabetes, as well as prebiotics and probiotics in cancer, among other topics. Dr. Kaufman offers a wide array of courses at ACHS, including Integrative Nutrition, Functional Nutrition, and Evidence Informed Practices.
These outstanding faculty members bring a wealth of experience and expertise to ACHS, further enriching our academic community. We look forward to the contributions they will make to the education of our students and the advancement of healthcare knowledge.
