Each year, ACHS celebrates the remarkable achievements of its graduates through the  Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) Outstanding Graduate and Famous Alumni Awards. These honorees embody the spirit of holistic health, using their education to drive meaningful change in their communities. From pioneering wellness services and research to mentoring and educating the next generation of holistic practitioners, these individuals exemplify the power of integrative health. Meet the 2025 nominees!

2025 Outstanding Graduate Nominees

April Foster

April FosterApril Foster’s journey into holistic health began with a deeply personal experience—her battle with Hodgkin lymphoma in 2010. While undergoing chemotherapy, she discovered the power of integrative practices, fueling her desire to help others embrace holistic wellness. Initially enrolling in ACHS for a Diploma in Herbal Studies, April continued her education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Health Sciences. Now, as the Executive Director of Soulside Healing Arts in Peoria, IL., she is expanding access to wellness by integrating yoga, herbalism, aromatherapy, and acupuncture services within her community. 

Victoria Funn

Victoria FunnVictoria Funn is blending her passion for plant-based cuisine and holistic nutrition to create a lasting impact in the wellness industry. She is graduating from ACHS with her Associate of Applied Science in Integrative Health Sciences degree. As the founder of Green Genius, she has developed innovative products like protein-rich, chickpea-based ice cream, and is authoring The Art of Alkaline Pastry. Victoria’s education at ACHS has been instrumental in shaping her entrepreneurial journey, where she now educates others on food transparency and plant-based wellness.

April Heard

April HeardApril Heard graduated from ACHS with an Associate of Applied Science in Health and Wellness in April 2024, earning honors and multiple micro-credentials. As the founder of April Heard Wellness, she empowers women through coaching and consulting services that address mind, body, and soul wellness. Her commitment to holistic health extends beyond her business—she mentors women, creates wellness-focused content, and serves as a board member for ATIR Wellness Community, helping make evidence-based wellness strategies accessible to all.

Carissa Mir

Carissa MirCarissa Mir’s path to holistic health was shaped by her Cuban heritage and deep-rooted family traditions in natural medicine. Growing up in Los Angeles, she was surrounded by the healing wisdom of her ancestors. However, personal hardships led her on a transformative journey of self-discovery, where she explored spiritual and tribal healing practices. Carissa’s resilience and passion for alternative medicine have driven her to integrate ancient healing traditions with modern holistic wellness, making a meaningful impact in her community. She graduated from ACHS with a Master of Science in Integrative Health Sciences.

Celine Stewart

Celine StewartCeline Stewart graduated from ACHS in 2023 with her Diploma in Holistic Health Practice. She is a Holistic Health Practitioner with a strong background in yoga, Reiki, and herbalism. Her education at ACHS has been pivotal in advancing her career, allowing her to work at America’s first integrative movement hospital. Celine collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team to provide whole-person healthcare, offering services like nutrition consulting, herbal protocols, and wellness coaching. Her ACHS credentials have earned her recognition as one of the most versatile practitioners on staff.

Brianna Vargas

Brianna VargasBrianna Vargas discovered her passion for herbal medicine while earning her Associate of Applied Science in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (now AAS in Integrative Health Sciences) from ACHS in 2022. Encouraged by ACHS, she presented her research on herbal medicine for acne vulgaris at HealCon, an experience that inspired her to pursue a hands-on career in holistic health. Now a Lab Technician at Premier Research Labs, Brianna ensures the quality and safety of nutraceutical products, playing a vital role in protecting public health while balancing her career and family life.

 

2025 Famous Alumni Nominees

Amber Elliott

Amber ElliottAmber Elliott, a graduate of ACHS’ Bachelor of Science in Integrative Health Sciences program and Master of Science in Herbal Medicine program, is a holistic health companion dedicated to guiding her community toward wellness and self-discovery. Featured in Knoxville Voyager and Canvas Rebel, Amber blends traditional herbal wisdom with modern integrative health approaches. Her education at ACHS empowered her to build a career that not only supports her entrepreneurial pursuits but also enables her to inspire and transform lives through holistic practices. Amber plans to continue on to the Doctor of Science in Integrative Health with Herbal Medicine Specialization program. 

Autumn Smith

Autumn SmithAutumn Smith graduated from ACHS in July 2024 with a Doctorate in Holistic Nutrition. She had a mission to evolve from a holistic nutritionist into a thought leader, bridging cutting-edge science and real-world application. Her personal health challenges sparked a passion for whole, nutrient-dense foods, leading her to co-found Paleovalley, Wild Pastures, and Wild Pastures Burger Co. Through these companies, Autumn provides nourishing, sustainable food and advocates for regenerative agriculture. Her ACHS education has enabled her to analyze research, innovate products, and educate thousands, promoting real food as the foundation of wellness.

Crystal Stevens

Crystal StevensCrystal Stevens has dedicated her career to herbalism, organic farming, and community education. With her Bachelor of Science in Integrative Health Sciences degree from ACHS, she was accepted to graduate school and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Biology at Miami University. She owns Flourish Farm and Botanical Sanctuary, which grows fruits, vegetables, flowers, and medicinal herbs, with a focus on at-risk species. Flourish Farm and Folk School serves as a hub for land stewardship and herbal education. Through her school, workshops, speaking, and mentorship, she inspires others to embrace herbalism and environmental stewardship. A published author with New Society Publishers, she has written three books and is currently working on Homegrown Apothecary

These outstanding graduates and alumni exemplify the mission of ACHS—empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills to lead and innovate in the field of holistic health. Their inspiring stories reflect the transformative power of education and integrative wellness. The award recipients will be featured speakers at our annual Commencement ceremony on June 13, 2025!
