Dr. Stephen Babcock, Ed.D., M.A., L.P.C.

Dr. Stephen Babcock earned a BA in Behavioral Science (Honors) from Western International University, an MA in Professional Counseling from Ottawa University, and an EdD in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in Adult Learning from Grand Canyon University. A Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona, Dr. Babcock has facilitated therapy sessions, taught domestic violence courses, worked with individuals struggling with addiction, and delivered lectures on topics including relapse management, family dynamics, grief, anger, conflict resolution, codependency, and the 12-step philosophy.

Having grown up in special education and as the first in his family to earn a college degree, Dr. Babcock understands firsthand the impact that caring professionals can have on students’ personal and professional growth. Dr. Babcock encourages students to share their thoughts and ideas, even when they differ from his or their peers’, as this fosters meaningful growth. Dr. Babcock may challenge students at times, always respectfully, to help deepen their understanding of the course material.

Dr. Babcock’s career was shaped by facilitating individual, group, and family therapy in inpatient psychiatric programs, teaching domestic violence education and prevention courses, and supporting individuals struggling with addiction in inpatient and outpatient settings. These experiences provided firsthand insight into behavioral health, client needs, and effective interventions, guiding his professional growth.

Dr. Babcock brings expertise in therapy, addiction recovery, and behavioral health education. He is skilled in facilitating individual, group, and family sessions, teaching courses on domestic violence and addiction, and delivering lectures on relapse management, family dynamics, grief, anger, conflict resolution, codependency, and the 12-step philosophy.

Dr. Babcock is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona and has professional experience in behavioral health, individual and group counseling, case management, and educational lectures focused on wellness, addiction recovery, and mental health.

Dr. Babcock is proud of earning his EdD as the first in his family to complete a college degree, becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona, and receiving the Instructor of the Year award in 2019. Professionally, Dr. Babcock values his contributions to counseling and behavioral health through teaching, therapy, and case management, and personally, he takes pride in mentoring students and supporting clients’ growth and recovery.

Dr. Babcock has contributed extensively to behavioral health and education, including coordinating discharge planning and clinical audits at Mercy Care Behavioral Health Authority, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses across multiple institutions, and developing class exercises and multimedia presentations on topics such as addictions, ethics, counseling theories, and social and cultural diversity. His work has directly impacted students, clients, and the broader community.

Dr. Babcock is most excited by helping individuals achieve personal growth and wellness through counseling, education, and support. He values empowering students and clients to build skills, resilience, and self-awareness, and finds fulfillment in seeing meaningful change in their lives. Working in integrative health and wellness allows him to combine behavioral health expertise with teaching to promote holistic well-being.
