Erin is from Washington State, and is currently living on Whidbey Island. She started her journey into aromatherapy about 22 years ago during her massage therapy training. She took aromatherapy training due to the additional therapeutic benefit that would enhance the healing and relaxation of massage. Over the years, she has also integrated aromatherapy into her acupuncture and herbal medicine practice.
Erin’s passion for aromatherapy was ignited by her early fascination with herbal medicine and bodywork. Drawn to nature’s healing power, she explored plant-based remedies and traditional healing practices, which led her to study massage therapy and aromatherapy. This journey ultimately guided her to Eastern medicine, acupuncture, and integrative therapies, allowing her to blend aromatherapy with traditional healing techniques in her practice today.
For the past 21 years, Erin has owned a private practice, initially as a massage therapist and aromatherapist, and later expanded to include acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine therapies. She has collaborated with medical doctors and physical therapists, bridging holistic and conventional care to support patient healing. Her passion for education led her to teach at Ashmead Massage School and later at Bastyr University, where she continues to mentor students. These experiences have shaped her expertise, blending clinical practice, research, and teaching in the field of holistic healthcare.
With over 20 years of experience in holistic health, Erin integrates aromatherapy with acupuncture, massage, and traditional Chinese medicine. As a licensed acupuncturist, massage therapist, and certified aromatherapist, she utilizes essential oils in a clinical setting to support pain management, stress relief, and overall wellness. Her background in teaching at Bastyr University and Ashmead Massage School, combined with her research experience, enables her to provide a deep, evidence-based approach to aromatherapy education.
Erin is proud of owning and operating a successful private practice for over 20 years. She has helped countless patients through acupuncture, massage, herbal medicine, and aromatherapy. Erin also takes pride in her collaborative work with medical doctors and physical therapists, bridging holistic and conventional medicine. Additionally, she is passionate about her roles as a student mentor, educator, and researcher.
Beyond her professional practice, Erin finds great fulfillment in cultivating a medicinal herb farm, Leaf Essence Farm, on Whidbey Island with her partner. She is deeply dedicated to sustainable herbal cultivation, building gardens to grow traditional and medicinal herbs while replanting native plants to restore biodiversity and honor the region’s ecological heritage. A key focus of her work is cultivating First People’s medicinals, preserving and promoting Indigenous healing traditions. Through this project, she aims to support plant-based medicine, sustainability, and education, ensuring these valuable healing practices and botanicals remain accessible to future generations.
“What excites me most about integrative health and wellness is the ability to blend ancient healing traditions with modern research to support the body’s natural ability to heal. Whether through acupuncture, aromatherapy, or herbal medicine, I love empowering people with the tools they need to restore balance and well-being. Watching my students and patients discover the profound connection between nature, medicine, and self-care is what truly inspires me every day.”
