Heather Manley, ND

Assistant Professor

Heather is originally from Toronto, Canada, and has always been passionate about health and nutrition. Even as a student, she gravitated toward projects on herbs and natural remedies. Her journey initially began in wildlife conservation, where she explored the relationship between nature and well-being. However, everything changed when she met a naturopathic doctor. Their approach to healing fascinated Heather, and she quickly fell in love with this style of medicine—it was the best decision she ever made!

That experience shifted Heather’s focus to community health education, where she could blend her love for science, physiology, and holistic wellness. Over the years, she has worked with students of all ages, from elementary to college, creating engaging lectures, hands-on activities, and educational materials like Human Body Detectives. Her teaching integrates anatomy, physiology, and nutrition in a way that makes complex topics accessible and exciting.

Some past experiences that have shaped Heather’s career include doing podcasts, working for a supplement company, and, most definitely, working with children, students, and patients.

Heather brings patience, commitment, and empathy to her work, which are essential for creating a supportive learning environment. With years of experience teaching diverse student populations, she understands the importance of adapting to different learning styles and needs. Her commitment to education goes beyond just delivering content—she strives to make complex topics engaging and accessible.

Heather is particularly proud of creating Human Body Detectives, an educational series that makes anatomy and physiology fun and accessible for children. Teaching school-aged students and homeschoolers has been incredibly rewarding for her, as she has been able to develop creative, engaging ways to help young learners understand health, nutrition, and the human body. She has received a few awards for Human Body Detectives.

On a personal level, being a mom has been a gift. Experiencing home births was an empowering journey that deepened Heather’s appreciation for natural health and wellness.

“Empowering others with knowledge is the first step toward true long-term wellness.” and ” Teaching kids about how their bodies work, and how to best nourish it.”
