Torey Browne has B.A. in Human Communications and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies at Marylhurst University. Her research has focused on social justice, Hawai’ian culture, and ethnolinguistics. Torey has an eclectic professional background that has included years of being an ortho-neurosurgical nurse, a project manager for the Intercultural Communication Institute, and as a faculty member of Marylhurst University where, she developed and taught many courses in the fields of human communications, social justice, ethics, research methods, and ethical healthcare management.
Currently, as the Executive Director of Kaleidoscope Fighting Lupus, a Portland-based nonprofit that supports and advocates for those living with lupus, Torey directs efforts in education, patient advocacy and social media to give a voice to those with the disease. Torey lives in Oregon, and when not on the water, canoe racing with her team, she enjoys global travel, block printing and shopping for shoes.
