FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Portland, OR— March 6, 2014—American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) has received expanded approval from the U.S. Department of Education to participate in Title IV Federal Student Loans for qualifying students enrolled in an eligible program. ACHS has participated in the Federal Pell Grant program for qualifying students in the Associate of Applied Science in Complementary Alternative Medicine degree program since July 2012, and is pleased to offer expanded funding options to make its accredited holistic health education available to even more students.
As an accredited holistic healthcare college, ACHS is committed to helping students fund their education through many different sustainable options, such as the Federal Pell Grant and veteran’s educational benefits for qualifying students. With the expanded approval to participate in Title IV Federal Student Loan programs, ACHS students can now access additional federal funding, including:
- Federal Direct Loan Programs
- Federal PLUS Loans for Graduate and Professional Degree Students
- Federal Direct PLUS Loans for Parents
“We are very excited to be able to offer these federal aid options for ACHS students,” says Dorene Petersen, ACHS Founder and President. “These funding programs will assist more dedicated students to follow their dreams of completing a degree in the holistic health field and pursing satisfying careers. I am especially honored to help provide the opportunity and access to education to students who may not be able to attend an accredited program without these additional funds, like single working moms, which I once was, and second or third career students who have been “downsized,” need to return to work, or who simply want a new career and the chance to make a difference in their personal health, familial well-being, and/or community at large.”
The American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) is committed to helping students earn their associates and masters degrees without accruing a significant amount of financial burden. Students are counseled extensively prior to accepting any student loan funding to ensure they have considered repayment options and are encouraged to borrow conservatively. While students are not required to repay these loans until they graduate, leave school, or change enrollment status to less than half-time, ACHS encourages students to consider early repayment options and begin budgeting for repayment even while they are still in school.
