Anatomy & Physiology II Online

Overview

This is the second of two courses in the comprehensive study of the fundamental anatomical and physiological principles of human health and wellness, with a focus on the cardiovascular, lymph/immune, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems. Students will examine the structure and function of these systems and their interconnectedness within the body, gaining insight into the roles they play in maintaining homeostasis and reducing the risk of disease. Students will gain an understanding of the complex organization and regulation of these key body systems and how various integrative modalities can support their function for optimal health and wellness.

Learning Outcomes

  • A strong theoretical understanding of anatomy and its relationship to the function of physiology and the principal of complementarity of structure and function as measured by objective examinations, essay examinations, projects, and application of principles to case studies.

  • A solid knowledge base of the anatomy and physiology of the body systems studied, with the ability to evaluate, compare, and contrast selected pathological conditions to show clinical connections to each body system along with system interrelationships as measured by objective examinations, essay examinations, projects, and application of principles to case studies.

  • The ability to critically evaluate and critique various concepts, approaches, methods, and issues in select areas of anatomy and physiology and the ability to locate, review, and critically evaluate basic and clinical scientific studies examining the use of various CAM protocols for these pathological conditions and construct appropriate case studies using validated protocols as measured by essay examinations and projects and application of principles to case studies.
