Students study the effective execution of strategy by discovering, researching, and discussing operational management. This course covers traditional constructs such as operational strategy, process and supply chain management, production and inventory management, and quality management methodology. It also explores crucial principles, tools, and techniques associated with growing fields such as business re-engineering, green management, and industrial ecology. Students gain exposure to industry concepts, tools, techniques, and constructs in support of complete value chain awareness and management.

Learning Outcomes

Differentiate the concept of value chain from supply chain management.
Compare and contrast traditional approaches with those based on principles of sustainable operations and value chain management processes.
Evaluate the strengths and limitations of the concepts of Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma in a multicultural, global business environment.
Describe and evaluate the core and support processes that connect customers and suppliers in value chain and operations management strategies.
Measure and interpret the major dimensions of demand management, capacity planning, inventory management, and optimization in an organization committed to continuously advancing efforts towards sustainability objectives.
Develop and present a plan for an organization seeking to infuse its global value chain with practices that advance objectives related to environmental and social sustainability.
