Project Management

Overview

 

Project management is an important component of many of today’s most rewarding professions. This important discipline makes it possible to achieve organizational goals in a broad array of fields within the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. This course provides students with a deep understanding of project management by introducing processes in combination with behavioral and technical tools to effectively plan, manage, and implement projects. In this course, students will be exposed to a range of applications and will have the opportunity to develop a project through several stages of implementation. 

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the value, relevance, and broad application of developing project management competencies.

  • Analyze a project environment and develop a plan to achieve project milestones, addressing potential risks and obstacles.

  • Apply techniques for addressing management challenges related to project administration.

  • Develop and apply leadership skills for planning and control of projects in the context of an organization with a commitment to sustainable practices across the value chain.

  • Identify and apply key leadership, team process, and project management concepts and the ability to relate them to current global business realities through a lens of sustainable practices.

  • Demonstrate the effective use of widely accepted tools including project scheduling techniques, planning and tracking controls, and effective resource allocation.
