FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Portland, OR—May 21, 2014— Over 450 holistic health and holistic nursing professionals are expected to attend the upcoming American Holistic Nurses Association’s (AHNA) 34th Annual Conference taking place in downtown Portland, Oregon from June 5-8, 2014. The theme of the event is Through the Looking Glass: A Vision of Holistic Leadership, and will feature expert nursing and holistic health experts lecturing on topics ranging from diabetes and nutrition to clinical acupressure in nursing and holistic health and nursing leadership.

“I am delighted that our hometown of Portland is hosting such an important holistic health event,” says Dorene Petersen, President and Founder of the American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS)—a Portland-based holistic health college. “AHNA’s efforts to educate nurses and healthcare practitioners in holistic health practices have made significant advances in the integrative medicine industry. One notable advancement is the official recognition of ‘holistic nursing’ as a nursing specialty by the American Nurses Association (ANA). This is an incredible achievement for the holistic health community.”

ACHS is a Quartz Sponsor of the AHNA Conference, and Petersen and others from the ACHS staff will be in attendance. “I am encouraging all of our ACHS students and alumni to attend this conference with us and stop by booth #6 in the exhibit hall,” says Petersen, “especially those interested in broadening their nursing practice with other complementary holistic modalities such as aromatherapy, herbal medicine, or holistic nutrition.”

The event will be held at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront hotel. Registrants are granted access to expert lectures and keynote presentations, the exhibit hall, workshops with holistic nursing experts, early morning yoga, and other activities. Eligible attendees can also earn up to 30.5 continuing nursing education (CNE) credits through specific event activities. Full-time students can also receive a discounted registration rate. Those interested in attending can learn more by visiting the AHNA registration page here: http://www.ahna.org/Conference/Registration
