Stephanie North, Director of Financial Aid / Director of Military Education Benefits: Stephanie joined American College in 2012. She came to ACHS with six years' experience as a Director of Financial Aid, Financial Aid Auditor, and Veterans Education Specialist. Stephanie has a B.A. in History and Political Science from Loyola University in Chicago and an MBA in Finance and Nonprofit Management from Regis University in Denver. She is also a member of both the Oregon and National Associations of Student Financial Aid Administrators and President of the Oregon Association of Veteran School Certifying Officials (ORAVSCO).
Stephanie is a world traveler and has lived in various parts of the world. She moved to Portland with her daughter in April 2012 to be closer to the mountains and ocean. Stephanie is quite the outdoor enthusiast. In her free time she enjoys yoga, mountaineering, and scuba diving. She is a member of the Mazamas Mountaineering Organization and a certified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. Stephanie is also passionate about holistic health practices and maintains a sustainable organic lifestyle. She has also taken several classes at ACHS to build her knowledge base in holistic nutrition.
Shannen Razumovsky, Financial Aid Advisor: Shannen graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2002 with a B.A. in Modern Literature. She went on to earn her M.A. in Education with a Counseling emphasis in 2006 from San Jose State University, along with her Pupil Personnel Services Credential. Shannen grew up in sunny San Diego and enjoyed years of swimming, the beach and water polo. To help fund her schooling (as well as fuel her passion of being with all types of dogs), she provided dog-sitting services to her clients for several years. For about 10 years she volunteered her time mentoring teens and working with their families in the San Jose/Silicon Valley areas.
After completing her graduate degree, she moved to the Northwest and shortly afterward began her career in Financial Aid. She has held various positions, including work as a Financial Aid Director and also as a corporate Financial Aid Auditor, serving in the field for over ten years. In her spare time, she devotes nearly all her attention to her favorite person in the world, her daughter! The active two-year-old keeps her very busy and feeling young. She also enjoys hiking any of Oregon’s beautiful trails, experimenting with homemade recipes for her health and beauty products, and going for a run outdoors whenever she gets the chance.
Shelley DeMars, Financial Aid Advisor: Shelley graduated from George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon in 2004 with a BA in Business Management. Shelley grew up right here in the Portland metro area and enjoyed years of camping on Government Island, Pine Hollow Reservoir, and her favorite, Camper's Hideaway on Lake Merwin!
Shelley started her career with Proprietary Schools in the '80s working in the office and developing the role of Registrar. After time off to start a family, she returned to work in Spokane, WA at another Proprietary College. She comes to us with over 19 years experience. Shelley returned to the PNW in 2000 and started her career in Financial aid. She has been a Director of Financial Aid, an Auditor and a Field Finance Manager at headquarters, having 14+ years of experience. In her spare time, she loves to putter in her yard, spend time with her grandson Nicholas. (Other two grandchildren are in CA). She enjoys camping, reading, crafts, and her furbabies.
