Articulation Agreement with MUIH

ACHS Announces Articulation Agreement with MUIH

American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS), an accredited integrative health college offering fully online programs in the health and wellness field, today announced a new articulation agreement with Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH). This collaboration unites two major industry leaders in the integrative health higher education field to further advance student and graduate opportunities in holistic health and wellness.

“The American people currently have access to a wide-range of medical and wellness avenues, including primary care physicians, hospitals, naturopathic doctors, acupuncturists, clinical aromatherapists, schools, the military, community events, and online venues, among others. Collaboration across these many avenues—especially among accredited educational institutions—is more important than ever to ensure our clients, friends, and family members have the information they need to make an informed decision about their health and a clear, accessible route to get the help they need,” says Dorene Petersen, ACHS president and founder.

The ACHS/MUIH articulation agreement expands student access to educational opportunities. MUIH students and graduates now have an accelerated pathway to admission into several of ACHS’s integrative health and wellness programs, including post-baccalaureate certificates in aromatherapy, herbal medicine, holistic nutrition, and botanical safety, among others. (Review the full course and program transfer guide on the ACHS website at achs.edu/academics/articulation-agreements.)

Similarly, ACHS graduates from the college’s Bachelor of Science in Holistic Nutrition and Bachelor of Science in Integrative Health Sciences now have an accelerated pathway to admission at MUIH and are eligible for entry into several of MUIH’s programs, including master’s degrees not currently offered at ACHS including acupuncture, Oriental medicine, and health promotion.

“This agreement reflects the shared commitment of MUIH and ACHS to integrative health and building the next generation of practitioners in the field,” says Dr. Christina Sax, MUIH’s provost and vice president for academic and student affairs. “We are pleased be able to call ACHS a partner.”

“We are honored to partner with MUIH through this articulation agreement, designed to open more doors to future wellness practitioners from both ACHS and MUIH to pursue meaningful education, professional collaboration and personal health,” says Erika Yigzaw, ACHS chief strategy officer. “As two of the most innovative accredited educators in the health and wellness space, we are delighted to collaborate with the team at MUIH to help students maximize their credits, saving time and money as they earn accredited degrees in the field.”

A wide range of organizations, from Oregon’s Higher Education Coordinating Commission to the Lumina Foundation to the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning, emphasize transfer credit and articulation agreements as vital pathways for students to maximize credits towards their degrees and certificates and to reduce the time to degree completion.
