This doctoral-level course teaches students to build individualized, biomarker-guided supplement protocols by mapping CYP450 and hepatic-metabolism-based drug-supplement interactions, selecting supplements based on genetic and biomarker data, and documenting and monitoring protocols over time. Condition-specific modules develop protocols for cardiometabolic, neurological and cognitive, and immune and gut health presentations. The course culminates in a complex, comorbid case protocol that demonstrates clinical reasoning, interaction management, and documentation standards appropriate for integrative health professions.
Design and defend a systematic, biomarker-guided protocol development framework, incorporating genomic considerations, medication interaction mapping, lifestyle variable integration, documentation standards, and monitoring and iteration processes in order to justify individualized dietary supplement protocol decisions appropriate for integrative health practice.
Develop evidence-based, personalized supplement protocols for cardiometabolic conditions, including cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemia, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and renal health concerns, by synthesizing clinical evidence with client-specific biomarker data and cardiometabolic medication interactions.
Design individualized supplement protocols for clients with neurological and cognitive health concerns, including cognitive decline prevention, mood disorders, chronic pain, and neuroprotection, integrating condition-specific supplement evidence with psychotropic and neurological medication interaction mapping and biomarker-guided personalization.
Construct evidence-based supplement protocols for immune modulation, gut microbiome support, mitochondrial and energy health, and chronic inflammation management.
Develop coherent, prioritized supplement protocols for clients with multiple concurrent conditions and complex medication lists, demonstrating the clinical reasoning, interaction management, and documentation skills required for the most challenging real-world supplement protocol cases encountered in integrative practice.
Design and evaluate documentation, monitoring, and iteration systems for supplement protocol practice to produce clinically defensible records that justify client safety decisions, track outcomes over time, and provide a scholarly foundation for case-based research.
