This course introduces students to the core principles and practices of integrative health care. Through exploration of plant-based therapies, mind-body techniques, manual and energy-based modalities, and emerging experiential therapies, students will examine a variety of holistic practices that support personal and community wellness. The course emphasizes the differences between holistic and conventional medical models and draws on current evidence to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of integrative techniques. Students will apply holistic principles through experiential learning, personal reflection, and assessment of their own health.
Apply foundational holistic wellness principles to daily routines to make realistic, sustainable choices that support health and balance.
Evaluate dietary intake and food quality using basic nutrition concepts in order to make informed nutrition decisions that support body function and well-being.
Explain how nutritional needs and guidelines shift across life stages to adapt wellness recommendations appropriately for different ages and contexts.
Prepare common herbal remedies and culinary herbal applications to utilize herbs safely and effectively in everyday home practice.
Develop basic natural body care and household wellness solutions to support self-care with practical tools.
