This is an introductory course to help you build the writing, research, and critical thinking skills necessary for academic and professional success. This course is organized into three sections: writing skills, research skills, and critical thinking skills. Each section presents a specific group of skills that builds on the previous section.
Apply critical thinking concepts and strategies to comprehensively explore concepts and information before drawing conclusions or making decisions.
Distinguish the components of arguments and the structure of scholarly writing to demonstrate an understanding of their function.
Utilize information literacy skills to locate and evaluate credible and scholarly sources to investigate a research question.
Develop strategies to organize, record, and evaluate sources in order to determine relevance and value.
Demonstrate the ability to integrate and cite sources within academic writing using APA style to reflect academic integrity.
Identify issues with credibility and reliability of sources to avoid use of misinformation.
