Integrative Modalities in Women's Hormonal Health

Overview

Integrative Modalities in Women’s Hormonal Health: Menstruation and Fertility

This graduate course examines women’s hormonal health from menarche through the reproductive years, integrating endocrinology with evidence-informed integrative modalities. Students study the whole-person neuroendocrine physiology of the menstrual cycle, then apply that foundation to common menstrual and reproductive conditions and to preconception health, fertility, and infertility. The course prepares students to evaluate integrative modalities—including nutrition, botanicals, lifestyle, and mind-body practices—within a whole-person, evidence-informed framework.

Why take this course?

In this course, you’ll build specialized knowledge of women’s hormonal health while learning to evaluate evidence-informed strategies that may support hormonal balance, fertility, and whole-person well-being.

You’ll explore women’s hormonal health from menarche through the reproductive years. You’ll also build an understanding of the menstrual cycle’s neuroendocrine physiology and apply that knowledge to support menstrual and reproductive health wellness.

You’ll also examine preconception health, fertility, and infertility while evaluating integrative approaches that include nutrition, botanicals (herbs and aromatherapy essential oils), lifestyle strategies, and mind-body practices. This course emphasizes whole-person care, scientific evidence, and the thoughtful application of integrative modalities.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the whole-person neuroendocrine physiology of the menstrual cycle, from menarche through the reproductive years, in order to establish a foundation for evaluating women’s hormonal health.

  • Analyze the etiology, presentation, and conventional management of common menstrual and reproductive conditions in order to inform whole-person care planning.

  • Evaluate preconception health, fertility, and the assessment and treatment of infertility in order to support reproductive health goals.

  • Appraise the evidence for integrative modalities used to support menstrual and reproductive health in order to judge their safety, efficacy, and appropriate application.

  • Evaluate the safety, quality, and potential interactions of botanical and nutritional interventions in order to integrate them responsibly alongside conventional care.

  • Integrate endocrinology with evidence-informed integrative modalities in order to design individualized, whole-person care strategies for menstrual and reproductive health.
