DEAC 2016 Famous Alumni award winner Kellie Cooney earned her Master of Science in Complementary Alternative Medicine from ACHS in 2015. She graduated with a 3.83 GPA, and completed several concurrent Certificate programs, including a Graduate Certificate in Aromatherapy, Graduate Certificate in Botanical Safety, and Graduate Certificate in Herbal Medicine.

Cooney is a former firefighter and paramedic. She is founder of the nonprofit organization Oils for Orphans (http://www.oilsfororphans.org), which delivers essential oils to Uganda, Africa to help meet children’s medical needs.

“The organization’s goal is to provide essential oils, education tools, clothing, and shelter to two orphanages in Uganda, Africa,” Cooney says. “I have such a passion for these children and [recently received word] that the initial shipment of oils sent to them has saved lives!”

Cooney also is owner of the website Wellness Warrior, specializing in herbal remedies, essential oils, wellness kits, and herbal first aid education (http://www.wellness-warrior.org).

She chose the MS in CAM to advance her knowledge of complementary alternative medicine through accredited education, and says that much of her current success is because of her work in with ACHS.

“When I teach publicly, I am better able to hold my head high and speak with an authority that I did not have before,” Cooney says.

“Kellie is an exceptional innovator in the holistic health and wellness field. She’s made tremendous strides in the CAM and wellness community through education, product development, and consulting,” says Dorene Petersen, ACHS president and founder.
