ACHS is excited to introduce four remarkable educators who have recently joined our faculty. Each brings unique expertise, extensive experience, and a shared passion for advancing holistic health and integrative education. Learn more about our newest Assistant Professors who are already making an impact in their fields and with our students.

 

Dr. Tasia Hilton-Betton, PhD, MS, MBA, MLS(ASCP)CM

Assistant Professor

Dr. Tasia Hilton-BettonDr. Hilton-Betton is a certified Medical Laboratory Scientist through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) with over 15 years of experience in Clinical Laboratory Science and Health Informatics. Her impressive academic journey includes earning dual Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Medical Technology, as well as advanced degrees in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Chemistry, and a PhD in Health Services with a concentration in Healthcare Administration.

With more than a decade of teaching experience in higher education, Dr. Hilton-Betton is dedicated to preparing future healthcare professionals with an emphasis on evidence-based practices and innovative approaches to health sciences. Her multidisciplinary expertise bridges science, administration, and informatics, ensuring students receive a comprehensive education.

Dr. Ralph Spraker, BA, MSSE, IMA, MA, PhD

Assistant Professor

Dr. Ralph SprakerDr. Ralph Spraker brings over 25 years of experience teaching STEM subjects, including Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Genomics, and Nutrition. Known for his innovative use of educational technology, Dr. Spraker is committed to enhancing online learning, particularly in Integrative Healthcare programs. His expertise extends to genomics, strengthened by graduate coursework completed at the Greenwood Genetic Center.

Dr. Spraker’s dedication to eLearning innovation and his holistic approach to teaching make him a valuable addition to the ACHS faculty. His passion for fostering engaging and dynamic learning environments will undoubtedly inspire and empower our students.

Dr. Lorraine Young, ND

Assistant Professor

Dr. Lorraine YoungDr. Lorraine Young, a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, has 25 years of experience in integrative medicine and education. She exemplifies the naturopathic principle of “Doctor as Teacher,” blending evidence-based research with traditional healing practices. Dr. Young has been instrumental in advancing naturopathic medicine through leadership roles, including her tenure as Executive Director at the Naturopathic Medicine Institute in Spokane.

Based in Raleigh, NC, Dr. Young specializes in supporting midlife women through individualized care and educational events. Her expertise spans multiple disciplines, including herbal medicine, homeopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and nutrition. Outside of her professional work, she is an accomplished athlete and community leader, actively engaged in youth sports and policy advocacy. Her holistic approach to health and her dynamic teaching style enrich the learning experience for ACHS students.

Cari Downing, BFA, MS

Assistant Professor

Cari DowningCari Downing, a board-certified health and wellness coach, blends her background in musical theatre with her expertise in holistic health to offer a unique and creative approach to wellness education. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Musical Theatre and a Master of Science (MS) in Health and Wellness from ACHS.

As a certified meditation and yoga instructor, Cari incorporates mindfulness and movement into her work with diverse populations, focusing on cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, and mindfulness practices. Her passion for personal growth and intentional living is reflected in her teaching, inspiring students to explore innovative and creative paths to wellness.
