Certificate in Wellness Consulting (CWC)

Overview

Holistic medicine comprises a wide range of modalities. The Certificate in Wellness Consulting covers a diverse selection of holistic modalities enabling graduates to select the modalities that will best assist clients in achieving optimal health. Students in this program also focus on pathophysiology and holistic protocols for clients experiencing acute and chronic problems. Graduates of this program are able to understand and explain the basic principles of pathophysiology as well as the mechanical and biochemical changes caused by a variety of diseases or imbalances.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the causes, development, and signs of diseases to inform wellness support plans.
  • Apply current research, including the major literature, theories, practices, ethical and cultural issues, and research methods for best practices in wellness protocols and education.
  • Develop evidence-based wellness protocols using a variety of integrative health modalities.
  • Identify activities and coalitions with community organizations to promote health policies that improve health and wellness.
  • Develop the components of a wellness coaching practice to effectively implement record keeping, insurance, consumer guidelines, ethical and legal considerations, marketing, and networking.

Core Requirements: Students complete 10 credits in the study of integrative health and wellness, pathophysiology, wellness coaching, and business consulting.

Electives: To complete this program, students may select 6 credits of upper division undergraduate elective credit (300-400 level course); prerequisites apply as applicable.
