Kate Johnson, PhD


Assistant Professor

Kate Johnson, PhD, has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years. Kate holds a BSN from Keuka College, an MBA from Western New England College, an MSN from American International College, and a PhD in nursing education from Capella University. Kate’s dissertation was titled: “The Effect of Diffused Aromatherapy on Text Anxiety Among Baccalaureate Nursing Students” and she has published two research articles on this topic. Kate is also certified in clinically aromatherapy, the “M Technique” and Advanced Holistic Nursing-Board Certified. Kate was inducted into the inaugural ceremony of the Global Academy of Holistic Nursing in June 2021. 

In addition to aromatherapy and holistic nursing, Kate is passionate about public health education and teaching. She has taught Community Health in undergraduate and accelerated BSN programs and has volunteered on several international trips to serve in clinics, deliver food to the homeless, and educate families and communities about health and wellness. She is board certified in Public Health, Advanced Public Health Nursing, and Nursing Education. 

Kate is a member of the Education & Professional Development Committee for the Association of Public Health Nurses and a member of the Massachusetts Local and Regional Public Health Advisory Committee.
