Abbey Skinner earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Alternative Medicine in 2011 from Everglades University while serving on active duty in the U.S. Air Force.  Abbey has always had a passion for holistic health and nutrition, which prompted her to separate from 14 years of service in May of 2014 to follow her dreams of helping others and continuing her education.

Abbey discovered her love for teaching while on a special duty assignment for 3 years as an instructor for the Community College of the Air Force – she decided when leaving her Air Force career that nothing could be better than combining the two… teaching your passion!  Her love for holistic health, teaching and learning led her back to ACHS where she’s been a nutrition faculty member since September of 2015.

Abbey is committed to lifelong learning and has studied various topics of interest in the Complementary and Alternative Medicine field, to include:

  • Hippocrates Health Institute Life Transformation Program - 2006 & 2014
  • Diploma in Holistic Health Practice, ACHS – 2008
  • Human Individuality and Diet - 2009 & 2011
  • 750-hour massage therapy program, Cortiva Institute - 2016
  • ServSafe Certification – 2017
  • Brain Health Coach, Amen Clinics - 2017
  • Mindfulness in teaching - 2018

She is currently enrolled in her final year of study toward her Master of Science in Nutrition & Integrative Health with a graduation date set for August of 2019!  After graduation, she plans to complete her Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) internship, provide individualized nutrition consultations for clients specializing in the area of detoxification and the microbiome as well as continue teaching!
