Nathan Hovekamp has a B.S. in biology from Kent State University, an M.S. in zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Ph.D. in education from Oregon State University. This educational trajectory reflects his interest in the life sciences as field of study and in teaching as profession.

Dr. Hovekamp has 30 years of instructional experience at a number of colleges teaching a wide variety of lecture, laboratory, field, and online courses in biology, zoology, and anatomy & physiology. He finds the online environment particularly rewarding in stimulating instructional innovation and creativity and in the flexibility it provides in accommodating different student learning styles and schedules.

Dr. Hovekamp lives in Oregon where, in addition to biology and instruction, he is active in community service and leadership. His other interests include conservation, reading, travel, and outdoor exploration.
